Jon has degrees in Biblical Studies (BA) and Philosophy (MA), as well as both an M.Div. & a D.Min. in Preaching. Over the past 15 years, he has preached over 700 sermons through many books, including Ruth, Proverbs, Jonah, Habakkuk, Mark, Galatians, Titus, and 1-3 John. He will watch a sample sermon, set up a time to talk, and offer kind, yet constructive criticism with the goal of helping preachers become better expositors of God's Word.

In 2014, Jon came to the congregation now known as Redeemer Bible Church in Gilbert, Arizona. During his tenure, the 40-year-old church, which was slowly dying for years, has turned around dramatically, becoming one of the fastest growing churches in Arizona. Beginning as a revitalization in 2015 to now serving a congregation of a couple thousand gives him unique insights on leadership, staffing, culture, change, pitfalls, and "success."
